Choosing the system with GAF 360
Black Diamond is a certified installer through three manufacturers: GAF, Malarkey and Owens Corning. They also work with IKO, Pabco and CertainTeed products. That range means the shingle choice is about your house, not about the one line a contractor happens to stock.
For the choosing itself they use GAF 360. In their words: "GAF 360 uses photographs of your roof to help you select the right roofing system for your property." You see the options against your own roof instead of a sample board.
They describe the result as a complete roofing system, built to last up to 50 years. Color and style matter too. Their site cites a National Association of Realtors figure that 91 percent of member realtors say picking the right shingle color and style is important.
Chapter 03
What install day looks like
One 2024 Google review gives a clear picture of a single job. Five workers arrived and all wore harnesses on the roof. Stripping the old roof took half a day, and the new roofing went down for the rest of it.
The review goes on: the crew picked up every scrap of old shingle around the property and swept for stray roofing nails with a magnet. When the work was finished, Josh, the owner, inspected the roof himself.
On timing, the company says they can complete a full re-roof in one day for homes up to 2,800 square feet, and that most roofs are done within a day or two. "We don't jump from job to job. Ventilation goes in with the roof, and so does the warranty
A new roof is the best time to fix attic airflow. Good ventilation pairs intake air low at the eaves with exhaust high at the ridge, so the attic moves air instead of trapping heat in summer and moisture in winter. Review writer David Law needed exactly that: a new roof "with improved ventilation to our attic," and the replacement took two days.
On warranties, the company says that as a certified installer it can offer "warranties anywhere from 5-50 years for all of our services." One homeowner's review records a GAF Timberline HDZ roof with a 50 year material and 10 year workmanship warranty.
Their About page also describes the GAF Golden Pledge warranty, which they say only a Master Elite contractor can give: a 25-year labor warranty and a 50-year material warranty, backed by both the contractor and GAF, and transferable to new homeowners.
