Patio covers in Richland, WA, built to give you shade all summer
What good is your patio if it's too hot to enjoy? Black Diamond Roofing & Construction builds patio covers for homes in Richland and the Tri-Cities.
Chapter 01
It's Time to Cover Your Patio
What good is your patio if it's too hot to enjoy? Don't let the direct sun ruin your outdoor fun. Black Diamond Roofing & Construction is a leading patio cover builder in Richland, WA, and the company says there is no patio too big for it to cover.
Summers in the Tri-Cities are hot and dry, and an uncovered patio takes the full afternoon sun. Pavers, decking and furniture all heat up, and the space goes unused for the months you most want it.
Our patio cover installation crew will make sure you get the shade you need to enjoy your patio all summer long.

Three reasons to cover it
It cools down your patio and makes it safer for you and your family to enjoy. Shade changes how a hot slab or deck feels underfoot and how long you can sit out there.
It protects your patio from the sun and the other elements that could ruin the materials. Sun, rain and snow wear down wood, finishes and outdoor furniture. A roof overhead slows all of it.
It boosts your curb appeal and increases the value of your home. A well-built cover reads as part of the house, not an afterthought bolted to the back.
Chapter 03
A cover that ties into the house roof
A patio cover works best when it looks like it belongs to the house. That comes down to the roof, the posts and how the two meet.
Most attached covers are fastened to the house at a ledger board along the wall. Where that board meets the siding or stucco, it needs flashing, so water runs out over the cover and not behind the wall. That is roofer's work as much as carpentry, which is why a roofing contractor builds these.
The patio cover in Black Diamond's own gallery has timber posts and a dark roof against a white-sided home. It sits on the house the way a covered porch would.
One finished job
Anne Marie Jones wrote in a 2026 Google review: “Dave and his team did an incredible job on our patio cover. They were professional, courteous and kept us updated on daily progress and next steps. We love our new patio. It feels like we added a room to our house. Would definitely recommend!”
